Padma Lakshmi wants you to know brown people do blush. “We just don’t show it,” the model and Top Chef host tells TINTED. But if we did, she imagines it’d be somewhere between the peachy-cantaloupe and universal pink color in her Powder Blush Duo palette that’s part of her limited-edition collection with M.A.C Cosmetics.
“I wear one or the other, but I also just love mixing it because nobody has just one undertone in their skin,” she says. “I wanted blush that had return – what you see in the pan is what I wanted on my skin.”
It’s hard to believe this is the longtime model and actress’ very first makeup collection.
“When I was a model, I would pray on bended knee to have a makeup collection and I never got one,” she says. “To have a makeup campaign at 47 is really fantastic.”
As a model in the 90s, Lakshmi said there were few colors that complemented brown and deep shades.
“Talk to Tyra and Iman – we’d all be mixing our own colors, and handing our foundation to the makeup artist, no matter who it was.”
With this collection, Lakshmi intends for the 17-piece collection (which she was heavily involved in creating and has nods to her own Indian heritage) would not only fulfill her own dreams but be a makeup collection that universally contains delicious selections for a day to night look. We can’t wait to see what’s next from Lakshmi.
